Lehtonen, Thrashers blank Avs in Denver

Rookie defenseman Zach Bogosian opened the scoring with 2:28 remaining in the second period and Todd White lit the lamp in the closing moments of the middle stanza for the Thrashers, who have won five of its last seven games. Rich Peverley added an empty-net tally late in the third period to cement the win.

"We are playing with no pressure now and having fun the last few games," said Atlanta forward Vyacheslav Kozlov. "We know the playoffs are out of reach, so we are playing for each other. (Lehtonen) played great tonight. He had help with those three posts and has really helped us."

Peter Budaj made 33 saves for the Avalanche, who were coming off a 5-1 victory in Chicago on Sunday that snapped a six-game losing streak.

"It's a simple formula," said Colorado forward Paul Stastny. "We just have to be consistent."
